Ceramic and Porcelain Tile

Is it necessary to seal porcelain or ceramic tile?

No. However, the grout used in ceramic tile installations and porcelain tile installations is mortar, which is highly absorbent. Therefore, these grout lines must be sealed for two reasons: 1) To prevent permanent staining. 2) To facilitate maintenance (If grout lines are sealed, soil will release easier during daily maintenance.)
