Why should I seal travertine tile?

There are two primary reasons travertine tile is sealed. One reason is that it helps the stone and grout from becoming permanently stained. A second reason is that it facilitates day-to-day maintenance by helping soils to release easier when cleaning, reducing the likelihood of it penetrating the stone.
